General Information
Electricity:
Nepal operates on a 230-volt, 50-hertz electrical system and uses two-pin cylindrical plugs and sockets. Power outages can occur, and scheduled cuts are announced for different areas. However, most hotels, guesthouses, and facilities are equipped with backup power systems to ensure uninterrupted service. If you plan to bring electronic devices, it is recommended to carry a universal travel adapter.
Expected Weather:
In October, daytime temperatures in Nepal typically range between 15°C and 20°C (59°F to 68°F), while nighttime temperatures drop to between 10°C and 15°C (50°F to 59°F), offering cool and comfortable weather ideal for travel and sightseeing.
What to Bring:
Nepal experiences a variety of climates, so it’s best to pack with both alpine and subtropical conditions in mind. Mornings can be cool, but the strong sunlight during the day can make it feel quite warm, making light cotton clothing ideal for daytime wear. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, and it’s highly recommended to bring sunglasses, sunblock, and a hat to stay protected from the sun.
Currency:
The official currency of Nepal is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). While major credit cards are accepted at most establishments in Kathmandu and other popular tourist destinations, it is recommended to always carry some local currency for convenience, especially when visiting smaller shops, local markets, or remote areas.
Luggage:
Each guest is allowed to check in one piece of luggage weighing no more than 15kg (33 lbs.), along with one small carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 7kg (15 lbs.). Any baggage exceeding these limits will incur additional fees, which must be paid directly to the airline at the time of check-in.
•Power banks and electronic devices must not be placed in checked luggage and should be carried in hand luggage.
•Sharp items such as scissors, nail cutters or files, razors, and liquids exceeding 100 ml are not permitted in hand luggage.
•Additionally, satellite phones and e-cigarettes are prohibited in India and must be left onboard the ship.
Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)
•Guests must obtain a doctor’s certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.
•The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications, especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type).
•These documents must be sent to the Land Program Team via the Reservations Team at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).
•Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which the cruise line nor our local ground operator can be responsible for.
Please note: Some airlines may impose restrictions or specific requirements when transporting wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or other assistive devices. We recommend checking directly with your airline or the Cruise Line prior to departure to ensure compliance with their policies.
Documents and Visa Requirements:
Please ensure that your passport is always kept with you during travel. At Kathmandu airport, a valid passport is required for visa-on-arrival processing, and the visa fee is already included in the program cost. For this journey, it is essential to obtain a valid multiple-entry Indian visa in advance, as re-entry into India is required during the itinerary. Please contact your local embassy or consulate for the latest requirements and application procedures.
Vaccination & Health Regulations:
Currently, there are no mandatory vaccinations required to enter either India or Nepal. Guests are responsible for confirming up-to-date vaccination requirements directly with their local embassy or health authority. Please note that visas and vaccination costs are not included in the price of this program.
IMPORTANT DOCUMENTATION NOTICE:
To ensure successful flight arrangements for this program, the name on your cruise booking, passport, and any required visas must match exactly. This includes first, middle, and last names, with identical spelling across all documents. Discrepancies may result in denial of boarding by the airline.
Cruise line-generated manifests must align precisely with your official travel documents. Failure to present the correct documentation or inconsistencies in guests names may lead to denied travel or the need to re-purchase tickets at your own expense. Guests will be responsible for any additional costs incurred due to these discrepancies.
