PRE: SWISS ALPINE WONDERS

$11,999.00/person

Discover Switzerland at its most enchanting, where elegant cities, storybook villages, and soaring alpine landscapes unfold in remarkable harmony. Begin in Zurich, a sophisticated lakeside capital rich in history and refinement, before journeying through the scenic heart of the Bernese Oberland, where glacier-crowned peaks, flower-filled chalets, and crystal-clear lakes define the landscape. Savor the heritage of Swiss chocolate at the renowned Lindt Home of Chocolate, explore the timeless beauty of Lucerne, and ascend to Jungfraujoch, the famed Top of Europe, where breathtaking views stretch across the UNESCO-listed Aletsch Glacier and the high Alps. A scenic cruise across the luminous turquoise waters of Lake Brienz and a visit to charming Grindelwald reveal the region's idyllic character and enduring mountain traditions. From cosmopolitan elegance to unforgettable alpine grandeur, this journey captures the very soul of Switzerland.

Note: This program begins in Zurich, Switzerland and ends in Trieste, Italy, therefore arriving flights must be booked into the Zurich International Airport (ZHR).

Day 1: Arrival in Zurich

Arrive in Zurich, Switzerland's elegant lakeside capital of finance and refinement, where you will be warmly greeted for a private transfer to your hotel. Your home tonight is the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich, an iconic five-star landmark perfectly positioned on Paradeplatz, the city's most prestigious address. First established in 1838 as the oldest grand hotel in Zurich and beautifully reimagined for the modern traveler, the Savoy sits just steps from the elegant Bahnhofstrasse shopping boulevard and the sparkling shores of Lake Zurich.

The remainder of the day is yours to explore at leisure. From the hotel, you can stroll through Zurich's medieval Old Town, admire its guildhalls and church spires, or enjoy designer boutiques and lakeside promenades right outside your door. In the evening, you may choose to relax at one of the hotel's refined bars or dine in one of its celebrated restaurants, savoring the atmosphere of one of the city's most storied addresses.

Hotel check-in is at 3:00pm. Luggage storage will be available prior to check-in, should your room not yet be ready upon arrival. Meals are not included today.

Overnight at Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich, or similar.

Day 2: Chocolate, Lucerne and the Bernese Oberland

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your driver and guide for a short transfer to Kilchberg, a charming village on the shores of Lake Zurich. Enjoy a guided stroll along the water, where elegant villas and gardens frame beautiful views before your morning highlight.

Step inside the Lindt Home of Chocolate, a world-class celebration of Switzerland's most beloved export. Follow the story of chocolate through immersive exhibits, marvel at the world's largest free-standing chocolate fountain rising more than nine meters and indulge in tastings of Lindt's most iconic creations.

After lunch under your own arrangement, travel to Lucerne, one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities, cradled between mountains and a shimmering lake. With your guide, wander its enchanting lanes and admire landmarks including the medieval Chapel Bridge with its flower-lined roof, the moving Lion Monument, and the frescoed facades of the Old Town. Pause at the Spreuer Bridge and view the historic Town Hall, soaking in the blend of history and beauty that has made Lucerne beloved for centuries.

In the late afternoon, continue into the Bernese Oberland, a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering peaks. Check into your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. Dinner is under your own arrangement today.

Overnight at Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa (Interlaken), or Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof, (Grindelwald), or similar.

Please note: Today includes extended walking on uneven surfaces and cobblestone streets in Lucerne, as well as standing during the Lindt chocolate experience. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended. Some areas may not be fully accessible for guests with limited mobility.

Day 3: Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe

This morning, meet your driver and professional guide, who will accompany the group throughout the entire excursion. Travel by coach through picturesque alpine scenery to Grindelwald Terminal, the gateway to one of Switzerland's most iconic mountain journeys.

From Grindelwald Terminal, board the state-of-the-art Eiger Express, a modern tricable cableway that glides you toward the Eigergletscher station in just fifteen minutes, with breathtaking close-up views of the legendary Eiger North Face.

At Eigergletscher, transfer to the historic Jungfrau Railway for the final leg of the journey. Carved directly into the mountain and climbing since 1912, this legendary cogwheel train is a masterpiece of Swiss engineering, ascending toward the highest railway station in Europe.

Arrive at Jungfraujoch (3,454 meters / 11,332 feet), renowned as the Top of Europe. Together with your guide, enjoy a guided orientation of this extraordinary high-alpine world. Highlights include panoramic viewing terraces overlooking the vast Aletsch Glacier, the longest in the Alps and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the magical Ice Palace sculpted deep within the ice, and exhibits exploring the region's geology, climate, and pioneering mountaineering history.

Savor lunch at a panoramic mountain restaurant, where sweeping views of snow-covered peaks stretch across Switzerland and, on clear days, toward France and Germany. Afterward, descend through the alpine landscapes to Grindelwald Terminal and return by coach to your hotel, accompanied by your guide, concluding one of Switzerland's most unforgettable mountain experiences.

Overnight at Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa(Interlaken), or Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof (Grindelwald), or similar.

Please note: Today involves walking and standing on uneven surfaces and at high altitude, where the air is thinner. Warm layers and comfortable, non-slip shoes are essential. Guests with limited mobility or respiratory concerns should assess the excursion carefully before participating.

Day 4: Grindelwald Village and Lake Brienz

After breakfast, set out with your guide for the charming alpine village of Grindelwald, nestled at the foot of the mighty Eiger and surrounded by glaciers and towering peaks. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the village, where traditional chalets, flower-filled balconies, and sweeping vistas create a postcard-perfect setting. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the region's history, culture, and enduring mountain traditions.

Continue with a scenic cruise on Lake Brienz, celebrated for its luminous turquoise waters and dramatic shoreline. Relax as you glide past waterfalls and lakeside villages while enjoying a three-course lunch served on board, a uniquely Swiss and memorable dining experience.

In the afternoon, return to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure, perfect for a lakeside stroll, spa relaxation, or independent exploration. Dinner is under your own arrangement today.

Overnight at Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa(Interlaken), or Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof(Grindelwald), or similar.

Please note: Today includes light walking on village streets and pathways in Grindelwald. While the terrain is generally accessible, comfortable shoes are recommended. Guests with limited mobility may wish to concentrate their exploration in the central village area.

Day 5: Departure and Embarkation

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before meeting your driver for a scenic transfer to Zurich Airport. An assistant will be on hand to ensure a smooth and comfortable departure process.

Board your flight to Venice, Italy. Upon arrival, you will be met by your assistant and transfer to the port of Trieste, where your Swiss journey ends and your Oceania voyage begin.

General Information

Electricity

Power sockets in Switzerland provide a standard voltage of 230V at a frequency of 50Hz, using plug types C and J. Travelers from the United States will require a plug adapter, and a voltage converter is recommended for devices not compatible with 220V to 240V. A universal travel adaptor is advised for electronic devices.

Expected Weather

Your journey through Switzerland takes place during the spring, summer, and fall months, when conditions are ideal for sightseeing.

Spring (April to June): Mild temperatures, blooming alpine meadows, and longer days, with average highs of 15 to 20C (59 to 68F).

Summer (July to August): Warm and pleasant, ideal for outdoor excursions, with average highs of 20 to 25C (68 to 77F) and cooler evenings near 12 to 15C (54 to 59F).

Fall (September to October): Crisp air and vibrant foliage, with average highs of 12 to 18C (54 to 64F).

Regardless of the season, mountain temperatures at Jungfraujoch remain near or below freezing year-round, and alpine evenings can feel cool. Packing warm layers is essential.

What to Bring

Pack comfortable walking shoes, light layers, and smart-casual attire for dining or evening activities. A warm jacket or sweater is recommended for the high-alpine excursion, along with an umbrella, sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses. Bring your camera to capture the breathtaking alpine landscapes, as well as any personal medications you may require.

Currency

The official currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc (CHF). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, though it is advisable to carry some cash for small purchases in villages and mountain areas.

Luggage

Guests are permitted to check in one suitcase free of charge, with a maximum weight of 20kg (44 lbs.) per bag. Any excess or overweight luggage may incur additional charges, payable directly at airport check-in in accordance with airline policies. For portions of the journey involving light aircraft, soft-sided luggage is required to ensure safe handling and storage due to limited space onboard. Guests are encouraged to plan accordingly when packing.

Special Note - Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations):

1. Guests must obtain a doctor's certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.

2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description and specifications, especially with regard to the type of batteries used (lithium, dry, or any other type).

3. These documents must be sent to the Land Program Team via the Reservations Team at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport, for which neither the cruise line nor our local ground operator can be responsible.

Please note: Some airlines may impose restrictions or specific requirements when transporting wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or other assistive devices. We recommend checking directly with your airline or the cruise line prior to departure to ensure compliance with their policies.

Documents and Visa Requirements

A passport valid for at least six months after travel is required. For U.S. citizens, no visa is necessary for stays of up to 90 days in Switzerland. Guests are responsible for checking any visa requirements for their nationality and for obtaining any necessary visas in advance. Please contact your local embassy or consulate for the latest entry requirements and application procedures. Kuoni Tumlare is not responsible for visa arrangements or entry eligibility.

Vaccination and Health Regulations

Guests are responsible for verifying any current vaccination or health requirements with their local embassy or relevant health authority prior to travel. Please note that any costs associated with visas, vaccinations, or health documentation are not included in the price of this program.

Important Documentation Notice

To ensure successful flight arrangements for this program, the name of your cruise booking, passport, and any required visas must match exactly. This includes first, middle, and last names, with identical spelling across all documents. Discrepancies may result in denial of boarding by the airline. Cruise line-generated manifests must align precisely with your official travel documents. Failure to present the correct documentation or inconsistencies in guests' names may lead to denied travel or the need to re-purchase tickets at your own expense.
