On the west coast of Zealand opposite Copenhagen, Kalundborg is oft framed as the quieter cousin of The City of Spires. The medieval town offers a slower-paced look at Danish culture and is endowed with enchantments all its own. The Old Town dates to the 12th century and is graced with well-preserved 15th- to 16th-century houses, the cultural history Kalundborg Museum, the 13th-century Church of Our Lady and quaint cafés to take in the ambiance.
