OCEANIA SONATA: A NEW ERA IN LUXURY CRUISING
The countdown to Oceania Sonata™ has begun.
Debuting in August 2027, our newest ship will introduce more space, new culinary experiences, beautifully evolved accommodations and an expanded collection of places to relax, socialize and enjoy life at sea.
As the first of five planned Sonata Class ships, Oceania Sonata represents much more than a new addition to our fleet. She brings together many of the qualities travelers have long treasured about Oceania Cruises, from destination-rich itineraries and gracious service to The Finest Cuisine at Sea®, while offering exciting new ways to experience them.
As Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, has noted, “each new ship offers an opportunity to reimagine and perfect the travel experience.” With Oceania Sonata, that opportunity extends from the experiences found on board to the remarkable destinations awaiting ashore.
A New Generation of Oceania Cruises
When Oceania Sonata debuts, she will be our most spacious and amenity-rich vessel to date. Nearly 30% larger than Oceania Allura, she’ll feature just 90 additional guest accommodations, creating an exceptional sense of space and comfort while preserving the intimate atmosphere that defines the Oceania Cruises experience. Her serene, adults-only environment will further reflect our commitment to The Joy of Traveling Well.
Throughout the ship, expansive public areas will be balanced by quieter corners that invite you to settle in and make yourself at home. At the heart of Oceania Sonata, a soaring grand atrium anchored by a stunning, modern sculpture sets the tone, while familiar favorites and inviting new spaces unfold throughout the ship. The Founders Bar is conceived as a gracious living room by day before taking on a livelier personality in the evening. Horizons, meanwhile, frames the journey through dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping 180-degree views.
The spacious Pool Deck offers shaded cabanas and an easy connection to ever-changing seascapes and landscapes, while Aquamar® Spa + Vitality Center and its private Spa Terrace create a tranquil retreat. Elsewhere on board, guests will discover the Grand Lounge, Martinis and Baristas, along with expanded spaces dedicated to enrichment and creativity.
Perhaps most importantly, however, Oceania Sonata has been designed around a philosophy that has always been central to Oceania Cruises: luxury should feel personal rather than excessive.
More Room to Call Your Own
Within her rooms and suites, Oceania Sonata takes our small-ship luxury philosophy in an exciting new direction. One-third of her accommodations are suites, with private verandas in every room, and butler service available from Penthouse level upwards.
Among the most striking additions are two entirely new suite categories.
The new Horizon Suites offer more than 600 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space, with separate living and bedroom areas that can be divided by a pocket door, a substantial walk-through closet and an oversized private veranda furnished with an outdoor dining table, sofa and sun loungers.
Also being introduced on Oceania Sonata, the 488-square-foot Penthouse Deluxe Suites offer another beautifully considered option, with generous sitting areas, private verandas, luxurious bedding and marble detailing in the bath.
At the pinnacle are four spectacular two-bedroom Owner's Suites spanning more than 2,500 square feet. A first for Oceania Cruises, these expansive residences feature wraparound aft verandas with 180-degree views, a spacious master bedroom and spa-inspired bath, plus a separate guest bedroom and marble bath.
Across every category, the emphasis is on creating a true home at sea, with thoughtful residential details, generous storage and private outdoor space from which to watch the world pass by.
The Finest Cuisine at Sea®, Reimagined
Naturally, we couldn't introduce a new class of ship without giving our culinary team plenty to work with. Oceania Sonata will feature 13 dining venues, bringing together longtime favorites and entirely new concepts. Jacques, Red Ginger, Polo Grill and Toscana return alongside The Grand Dining Room, Terrace Café, Waves Grill, Aquamar Kitchen, Baristas and other treasured stalwarts.
But two new restaurants promise to make Oceania Sonata particularly exciting for devoted food lovers.
La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France will offer one of the most exclusive dining experiences at sea, welcoming just 18 diners for a reservation-only celebration of French gastronomy. Developed in collaboration with the prestigious Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and led by our Executive Culinary Directors and Master Chefs of France Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale, La Table will feature rotating menus created with invited Master Chefs of France from around the world. For Chef Quaretti, the new restaurant is also deeply personal, reflecting the values he and Chef Barale share with reverent “regard for technique, appreciation of flavor and an unwavering commitment to excellence.”
Expect the traditions of French gastronomy interpreted with a contemporary sensibility, with dishes ranging from Granny Smith apple and langoustine tartlets to spider crab potato roll crowned with Sturia Oscietra caviar. La Table will also become home to the acclaimed Dom Pérignon Experience, featuring a six-course tasting menu paired with three Champagne vintages.
The all-new Nikkei Kitchen draws inspiration from the distinctive culinary tradition that emerged when Japanese immigrants to Peru began combining the techniques of their homeland with local ingredients in the late 19th century. Fresh seafood, bright citrus, soy-based sauces and spicy peppers characterize the cuisine, served in a bright, airy setting with a modern open kitchen.
And because discovering cuisine can be every bit as enjoyable as dining, Oceania Sonata will continue the hands-on experiences of The Culinary Center while expanding opportunities for culinary enrichment in the Chef's Studio.
From the Mediterranean to the Tropics
Of course, even the most beautiful ship ultimately exists to take you somewhere. Oceania Sonata's inaugural season will encompass 22 voyages from August 2027 through April 2028, visiting more than 90 destinations on itineraries ranging from seven to 16 days. The season stretches from the Mediterranean and Northern Europe to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America, combining celebrated cities with smaller ports and opportunities for longer stays ashore.
Her adventure begins in August 2027 with Mediterranean Collage, Oceania Sonata's 14-day maiden voyage between Rome and Trieste. Seven ports in Greece provide an in-depth exploration of the country, while visits to Malta, Montenegro and Croatia bring the cultures and landscapes of the central Mediterranean and Adriatic into the journey.
Later in August, Summer's End Sailaway charts a completely different course during a 10-day voyage from Barcelona to London. The journey captures the changing character of Europe's Atlantic coast, moving from the warmth and energy of Spain and Portugal to the vineyards and elegant architecture of Bordeaux.
Autumn brings another side of the Mediterranean into focus. In October, the seven-day Greeks & Byzantines voyage weaves together idyllic Greek islands and centuries of history before culminating with an overnight stay in Istanbul. Smaller ports such as Paros and Patmos offer a more intimate counterpoint to the great cultural centers of the Aegean.
Then, as temperatures begin to fall in Europe, Oceania Sonata follows the sun.
In November, the 14-day Rose-Hued Palaces & Playas voyage carries you from Barcelona to Miami, exchanging the Mediterranean for the open Atlantic. Madeira provides a lush subtropical interlude before the transatlantic crossing, while Bermuda offers a final island escape before Oceania Sonata arrives in Miami to begin her inaugural tropical season.
That season brings an entirely different rhythm. In December, the 16-day Halcyon Holidays voyage travels from Miami to Los Angeles, combining Caribbean calls with the tropical shores of Central America and Mexico as Oceania Sonata makes her way to the Pacific.
In January 2028, Panama Canal Coastlines combines the Pacific shores of Mexico and Central America with one of the 16-day voyage’s undeniable highlights: a daylight transit of the Panama Canal. By March, Tropical Coves settles fully into Caribbean mode, pairing colorful island capitals such as San Juan with smaller destinations including St. Kitts and Tortola on a 10-day sailing that features three leisurely days at sea to enjoy Oceania Sonata herself.
It's a maiden season designed to show just how many different ways there are to experience Oceania Sonata: sailing among the Greek islands, lingering in some of Europe's great cities, crossing the Atlantic as autumn gives way to winter, transiting one of the world's great engineering landmarks or escaping to the Caribbean when warm sunshine sounds particularly appealing.
