The 12th-century temple Angkor Wat is so architecturally, historically and culturally important that UNESCO deemed it a World Heritage site. It is even featured on the Cambodian flag. Seeing Angkor Wat and the more than one thousand buildings contained in the vast complex is an experience not to be missed. While exploring this extraordinary religious and royal setting, you will learn about the ruling Khmer kings, the construction of Angkor Wat and the reasons for its conversion from a Hindu shrine to one where Buddhism was practiced.
