Oceania Cruises Collaborates with the American Cancer Society Launching Relay For Life at Sea

As passionate as Oceania Cruises is about delivering exceptional travel experiences, we’re just as committed to making a positive impact in the communities we touch. That’s why we are honored to have recently announced a new collaboration with the American Cancer Society (ACS), bringing the ACS Relay For Life at Sea program to our guests, crew and team members, fostering a community of support and raising vital funds for cancer research, patient support services and advocacy efforts.

Collaborating with ACS is a great opportunity for us as an organization to support a cause that has incredibly deep roots, as this disease touches virtually everyone in some way. Through this impactful program, we are fostering a spirit of unity – seeing not only our guests, but also our officers and crew come together to celebrate survivors, honor those we’ve lost and contribute to the fight against cancer.

We first launched the relay on board Vista and Insignia, and it will be rolled out fleetwide soon, with the goal of raising $150,000 for ACS by the end of the year.

What is Relay For Life at Sea On Board Oceania Cruises?

With the same spirit that inspired the original land-based Relay For Life event back in 1985, participants take to the ship’s fitness track to compete in a friendly competition to walk as many laps as possible.

The event is a special celebration on each sailing, where guests, officers and crew are encouraged to get involved in the relay. Signing up is easy. You can walk in a group or on your own. You can go at your own pace. And this is not just an activity, not just a fundraiser – it’s also a great opportunity for our officers and crew to connect with our guests while participating in a meaningful cause.

After each walk, we host a final get-together at the end of the voyage where participants can share their achievements and join in on special recognitions and prizes for the overall winners within various age groups. With this new program, we hope to sail towards a brighter future, filled with love, laughter and a renewed sense of possibility.

Current and future guests are encouraged to register for Relay For Life at Sea by visiting www.cancer.org/relayforlifeatsea or when on board, scan the QR code available in the ship’s onboard newsletter, Currents. The new initiative has a minimum donation of $25 required for participation.

We hope to see you walking the track soon. When is your next cruise? Tell us on Facebook.
