Experience life in the Amazon through adventures that will enrich your understanding of its seemingly endless rainforest and the extraordinary flora and fauna within it. You will behold the rainforest’s biodiversity on a sunrise boat tour and on an evening forest walk or while looking for caiman at night. Flying over the Amazon, fishing for piranha, cruising the world’s largest river island system and hiking through a dryland forest will offer other perspectives. Tours of the intriguing colonial cities Manaus and Salvador will add an urban flair.
DAY 1
After disembarking in Belém and transferring by private vehicle to the airport, you will fly across the Brazilian interior to Manaus, the gateway to the Amazon rainforest. Upon arrival in the evening, a private transfer will bring you to Villa Amazônia, a boutique hotel located in a historic mansion near Manaus’s main plaza.
After settling into your spacious accommodations, you will enjoy a welcome dinner featuring flavors from the Amazon region. The rest of the evening will be yours to rest and prepare for the journey into the heart of the rainforest.
Overnight at Villa Amazônia Hotel or similar.
DAY 2
After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will take a chartered private seaplane transfer to the Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge. This scenic 40-minute flight offers spectacular aerial views of the Amazon River, winding tributaries, mirror-like blackwater lakes and the vast emerald expanse of the rainforest. You will witness the scale and beauty of the world’s largest tropical ecosystem from above – a breathtaking and unforgettable way to begin your Amazon adventure.
Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is an exclusive eco-lodge nestled along the Rio Negro, facing the Anavilhanas Archipelago, the world’s largest river island system. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will enjoy a delicious lunch and an orientation session introducing you to the lodge and the adventures ahead. In the afternoon, you will head out on your first exploration: perhaps gliding quietly through narrow waterways by canoe or embarking on a guided wildlife observation hike. After dinner, you will experience the rainforest after dark with a night forest walk or a caiman-spotting outing, during which you will encounter the Amazon’s nocturnal inhabitants.

DAY 3
You will start the day early with a magical sunrise excursion. You will venture out by boat to witness the dazzling display of colors as the first rays of sunlight ignite the Amazonian sky – a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.
After breakfast, you may choose your activities for the remainder of the day. Perhaps a recreational fishing adventure, navigating the region’s igarapés in search of piranhas and other native species; a boat tour through the Anavilhanas Archipelago, navigating winding channels, lakes and hidden waterways – and with luck, catching a glimpse of the famous pink river dolphins; or join an expert guide for a fascinating hike through the dryland forest, learning about the trees, fruits, insects and birds that make this ecosystem so unique.
This evening, you will savor a special dinner inspired by Amazonian ingredients, capping off an unforgettable day.
Overnight at Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge or similar.
DAY 4
After breakfast at the hotel, you may choose one last excursion or simply take time to relax by the pool and soak in the atmosphere. After an early lunch and check from the hotel, you will return to Manaus. Upon arrival, you will check back into Villa Amazônia.
Once night falls, you will discover the charm of Manaus after dark, beginning with a stroll along the lively riverfront promenade of Praia da Ponta Negra, a favorite gathering spot for locals. You will then drive past the striking Arena da Amazônia, built for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and now a symbol of the city’s modern era.
As the city lights come on, explore the historic heart of Manaus, where grand architecture tells the story of the rubber boom era. You will view the elegant floating port, a unique feat of British engineering, and admire the Adolpho Lisboa Market, inspired by the classic Parisian Les Halles. You will also pass the Palácio Rio Negro, once home to a wealthy rubber baron, and the beautifully illuminated Teatro Amazonas, one of the most magnificent opera houses in South America.
Your Amazon experience will conclude with a farewell dinner of gourmet Amazonian-Brazilian cuisine.
Overnight at Villa Amazônia Hotel or similar.
DAY 5
After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Salvador, the vibrant coastal capital of Bahia. Upon arrival, you will check in to the stylish Fera Palace Hotel in the city’s historic center. After time to freshen up and settle into your room, you will enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel. The evening will be yours to relax and unwind after a day of travel, preparing for tomorrow’s exploration of Salvador.

DAY 6
After breakfast at the hotel, you will set out on a guided morning tour of Salvador, beginning with a walking exploration of the Pelourinho district, just steps from the hotel. Stroll through its cobblestone streets and pass colonial architecture and explore vibrant plazas while learning about the city’s unique blend of Portuguese and Afro-Brazilian heritage.
The visit includes a stop at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary (Igreja do Rosário dos Pretos), which currently replaces the Church of São Francisco due to recent structural issues. After the walking portion of the tour, you will continue by vehicle to the Barra district to admire the city’s scenic coastal views and historic lighthouse. Your tour will conclude at the port, where you will rejoin your ship in time for lunch and to continue your cruise journey.
